FORMATION OF BRANDWOOD LODGE No.7679
Over a period of years, informal discussions had taken place between some brethren of James Watt Lodge No.5546 regarding the possibility of forming a Daughter Lodge.
The first serious step took place in April 1959 when four interested Brethren ( Bros. A.F.Ashby, B.H.Horton, W.Mack, with the Preceptors of the Lodge of Instruction W.Bro.J.C.Jorden and W.Bro.D.Christie.
After several meetings the Lodge was consecrated on 30th April 1960.
The ceremony was conducted by the Prov. Grand Master R.W.Bro.Dr.E. L. Bunting, assisted by W.Bro.H.E.Clive OBE.PGD. Prov.Deputy Grand Master. and W.Bro.A.W.Smallwood PGD Assistant.Prov.Grand Master who acted as I.P.M. together with 17 Founders, 11 Officers of Prov.Grand Lodge, and 120 other Brethren.
A total of 151 present.
The name Brandwood was suggested as being appropriate as the Moseley Masonic Hall was practically in the centre of the Brandwood Municipal Ward.
W.Bro. J.C.Jorden was installed and after appointing and investing his Officers it was announced that 3 Joining Members and two Candidates for Initiation were proposed and seconded.
The Charity Collection amounted to £30.00
